L-lysine is the precursor of the amino acid carnitine
This product uses the natural L-form of lysine instead of the synthetic D-form. Physiologically, only the L-form is active. Lysine used in dietary supplements is produced by fermentation with microorganisms. Plants and microorganisms are able to synthesise lysine from the amino acid aspartic acid.
There are around 500 amino acids that occur in nature. Twenty of these amino acids serve as building blocks for protein in the human body and are called "basic amino acids". These basic amino acids can be classified into the categories "essential", "semi-essential" and "non-essential". L-lysine is one of the essential amino acids, which means the body is not able to produce it from other amino acids itself and therefore relies entirely on dietary intake to meet its daily requirement. Vegetarians and vegans may have an inadequate intake of lysine, as animal proteins are particularly rich in this amino acid.

Recommended intake
As a dietary supplement for adults, take 2-3 capsules per day with water between meals (at least half an hour before or two hours after eating).
