Magnesium citrate – optimally absorbable

This product contains 100 mg magnesium in the easily absorbable, organic form of magnesium citrate. Many magnesium products are available in tablet form because they offer more space for magnesium. And these tablets are often large because magnesium requires a lot of space. Not everyone finds taking such large tablets comfortable. Therefore Vitals delivers this product in a capsule form that is easier to swallow. If necessary, the capsule can also be opened to mix the contents into something.

The capsule shell consists of Pullulan, which is produced from manioc (an edible root vegetable, also known as cassava). To properly fill the capsule, excipients derived from rice are used.

The effect of magnesium in the body

The body contains about 21 to 28 grams of magnesium. Less than 1% circulates in the blood, about 20% is found in the muscles, 20% in other soft tissues and the liver, and about 60% is stored in the bones and teeth. Magnesium is therefore good for the muscles and important for maintaining strong bones and teeth. In addition, it is involved in more than 300 enzymatic processes. Magnesium is an important cofactor for enzymes involved in protein synthesis (the process by which proteins are produced based on DNA). It helps to maintain a proper electrolyte balance because it is a cofactor for many enzymes involved in maintaining an electrical potential across the cell membrane. (Cells – especially nerve and muscle cells – use the electrical charge of electrolytes to conduct electrical impulses to and from other cells, e.g. nerve impulses or muscle contractions.) Thus magnesium is involved in nerve conduction and muscle contraction and is therefore important for muscle function, including the heart muscle. Furthermore, an inadequate magnesium intake can lead to tiredness. In such cases, magnesium can help to regain vitality. It helps to release energy from fats, carbohydrates and protein, thereby supporting energy levels. It is also important for brain and nerve functions, which are responsible for aspects such as concentration, memory and mood. And last but not least, magnesium contributes to normal cell division and to the production of cells and tissues.
