With more than 1,100 scientific publications and 300 human studies, the body of knowledge about the unique properties of this strain is to date more comprehensive than for any other probiotic product. In the Netherlands, this is the product containing this strain with the highest dosage.

Investigation by TNO (Dutch Organisation for Applied Scientific Research)

Lactobacillus rhamnosus GG showed the most outstanding performance in a recent, independent and impartial systematic review by TNO (2018) compared with other probiotic strains and mixes. Only those probiotic products were considered that are available on the Dutch market and for which randomized, double-blind and placebo-controlled studies had been conducted with the bacterial strain(s) or a combination thereof. The study aimed to provide doctors and healthcare professionals with a scientifically based guide to enable them to advise on the use of probiotic products to the best of their knowledge and belief. Three qualitative, independent human studies on Lactobacillus rhamnosus GG were awarded the highest rating of three stars. It is also the only strain to have received three stars. Six strains or mixtures received one star. It is notable that this single strain achieved better results compared with formulations containing multiple strains. So more is not always better. This review also once again highlights the need to evaluate probiotics based on strain-specific research. Viability and quality

This bacterial strain belongs to the Danish company Chr. Hansen, which is also its manufacturer. Chr. Hansen specialises in probiotics. Thanks to their innovative manufacturing process, the capsules remain stable for a long time outside the refrigerator in their sealed packaging. In practice and in stores this is of course very convenient. In addition, Vitals intentionally uses dark violet (almost black) glass for its probiotic products, which best protects the contents from air, light and moisture. The packaging is also sealed airtight with an aluminium seal, and it contains a sachet that absorbs moisture. Finally, the production and storage of the products take place under controlled conditions. This ensures that these bacterial strains remain viable.

About the name Microbiol

The name Microbiol is derived from the term “microbiome”. It refers to all the microorganisms that live in and on our bodies, such as the gut flora. These bacteria are part of our digestive system from birth. These include, for example, lactobacilli. Bacillus rhamnosus GG is also referred to as LGG.

Ingredients

Lactobacillus rhamnosus, rice starch (Oryza sativa), vegetable capsule (pullulan, from fermented cassava starch).

Recommended use

Take 1–2 capsules per day with water at a meal. If taking an antibiotic, it is advisable to wait at least 2 hours between taking Microbiol Platinum and the antibiotic.

Notes

Consult your doctor or midwife before taking if you are pregnant and severely overweight and/or have (gestational) diabetes.

Storage instructions

After opening, preferably store in the refrigerator. During use, if the cap is frequently removed, moisture and air will reach the product. To maintain optimal stability during use, refrigerated storage may then be advisable. Unopened, the product can be stored at room temperature without any problems. The shelf life of this product at delivery is a maximum of 15 months.
