10 billion viable bacteria of the probiotic strain Lactobacillus rhamnosus
With more than 1,100 scientific publications and 300 human studies, the body of knowledge regarding the unique properties of this strain remains, to this day, more comprehensive than that for any other probiotic product. In the Netherlands, this is the product containing this strain with the highest dosage.
Study by TNO (Netherlands Organisation for Applied Scientific Research)
Lactobacillus rhamnosus GG demonstrated the most outstanding performance in a recent, independent and impartial systematic review by TNO (2018) when compared with other probiotic strains and mixtures. Only those probiotic products were considered that are available on the Dutch market and for which randomised, double-blind and placebo-controlled studies had been conducted using the bacterial strain(s) bacterial strains or a combination thereof had been carried out. The aim of the study was to provide doctors and professionals in the healthcare sector with scientifically sound guidance enabling them to advise on the use of probiotic products to the best of their knowledge and belief . Three high-quality, independent human studies on Lactobacillus rhamnosus GG were awarded the highest rating of three stars. Furthermore, it is the only strain to have received three stars. Six strains or blends were also awarded one star. It is striking that this single strain achieved better results compared to formulations containing multiple strains. It is therefore not always the case that more is better. This overview also highlights once again the need to evaluate probiotics on the basis of strain-specific research. If a product contains several strains, studies must be available for that specific combination of strains. Strains differ and can influence one another (ask Vitals about the TNO study).
Viability and quality
This bacterial strain belongs to the Danish company Chr. Hansen, which also manufactures it. Chr. Hansen specialises in probiotics. Thanks to its innovative manufacturing process, the capsules have a long shelf life in their sealed packaging when stored outside the fridge. In practice and in-store, this is of course very convenient. Furthermore, Vitals deliberately uses dark purple (almost black) glass for its probiotic products, which protects the contents as effectively as possible from air, light and moisture. Furthermore, the packaging is hermetically sealed with an aluminium seal and contains a sachet that absorbs moisture. Finally, the production and storage of the products take place under controlled conditions. This ensures that these bacterial strains remain viable.
On the name ‘Microbiol’
The name Microbiol is derived from the term ‘microbiome’. This refers to all the microorganisms that live in and on our bodies, such as the gut flora. These bacteria have been part of our digestive system since birth. They include, for example, lactobacilli. Bacillus rhamnosus GG is also known as LGG.

This is very difficult because such companies are extremely rare among the mass of manufacturers of food supplements that are now on the market. But we have managed to find them again, with Vitals from the Netherlands!
