This product combines the well-known strains Lactobacillus acidophilus, LA-5, Bifidobacterium lactis, BB-12, Lactobacillus rhamnosus and GG, by far the best-known strain. The result is an excellent trio. Microbiol Trio Basis contains 3 billion CFU (colony-forming units, i.e. the number of viable bacteria capable of multiplying and forming a colony). Also available as Microbiol Trio Platinum with 15 billion CFU.

Manufacturer: Chr. Hansen

Chr. Hansen is the manufacturer of these bacterial strains and was responsible for much of the research into these specific strains, including the combination in which they are now offered. This is unique and also very important! A bacterial strain (designated by a suffix such as LA-5) is not the same as another, even if they belong to the same genus (in this case Lactobacillus) and species (Lactobacillus acidophilus) . Therefore, strain-specific research is of particular importance.

Scientific research

There are more than 1,100 scientific publications on the Lactobacillus rhamnosus GG strain, of which more than 300 are human studies, making it the most extensively researched Lactobacillus strain in the world. The Bifidobacterium lactis strain, BB-12, is supported by 370 scientific publications and 180 human studies, making it the most well-researched Bifidobacterium strain. Lactobacillus acidophilus, LA-5 is also very well researched and is supported by 150 publications, 60 of which are human studies.

Quality and shelf life

Chr. Hansen’s advanced production process ensures that the capsules have a long shelf life outside the fridge in their sealed packaging. This is, of course, very practical in everyday use and for retail. Furthermore, Vitals has opted for dark purple (almost black) glass, which protects the contents from the effects of air, light and moisture . Furthermore, the packaging contains a moisture-absorbing sachet and is hermetically sealed with an airtight aluminium seal. This further ensures the viability of these bacterial strains.

On the name ‘Microbiol’

The name Microbiol is derived from the term ‘microbiome’. This refers to all the microorganisms that live in and on our bodies, such as the gut flora. These bacteria have been part of our digestive system since birth. They include, for example, lactobacilli. Bacillus rhamnosus GG is also known as LGG.

Ingredients

Anti-caking agent (rice fibre), vegetable capsule (pullulan, derived from fermented cassava starch), Lactobacillus rhamnosus, Lactobacillus acidophilus, Bifidobacterium lactis.

Recommended intake

Take 1 capsule per day with water at mealtimes. If taking antibiotics, it is advisable to leave at least 2 hours between taking Microbiol Trio Basis and the antibiotic.

Notes

Storage instructions

Once opened, store preferably in the fridge. During use, if the cap is constantly being unscrewed, moisture and air will come into contact with the product. To maintain optimal stability during use, refrigerated storage may be advisable from that point onwards. When unopened, the product can be stored without any problems at room temperature. The shelf life of this product is a maximum of 15 months from the date of delivery.
