This product combines the well-known strains Lactobacillus acidophilus, LA-5, Bifidobacterium lactis, BB-12, Lactobacillus rhamnosus and GG, the latter being the best known. This has formed an excellent trio. Microbiol Trio Platinum contains 15 billion CFU (colony-forming units, which describe the number of viable bacteria that can multiply and form a colony). Also available as Microbiol Trio Basis with 3 billion CFU.

Manufacturer Chr. Hansen

Chr. Hansen is the manufacturer of these bacterial strains and was responsible for much of the research on these specific strains, including the combination in which they are now offered. This is unique and also necessary: a bacterial strain (denoted with a suffix such as LA-5) is not the same as another, even if they belong to the same genus (in this case Lactobacillus) and species (Lactobacillus acidophilus). Therefore, strain-specific research is particularly important.

Scientific research

There are more than 1,100 scientific publications on the strain Lactobacillus rhamnosus GG, of which more than 300 are human studies, making it the most researched Lactobacillus strain in the world. The strain Bifidobacterium lactis BB-12 is supported by 370 scientific publications and 180 human studies, making it the best researched Bifidobacterium strain. Lactobacillus acidophilus, LA-5, is also very well researched and is supported by 150 publications, of which 60 are human studies.

Quality and shelf life

Chr. Hansen's advanced production process ensures that the capsules remain stable for a long time outside the fridge in the sealed packaging. This is of course very practical in everyday use and for retail. In addition, Vitals has chosen dark violet (almost black) glass, which protects the contents from the effects of air, light and moisture. Furthermore, the packaging contains a moisture-absorbing sachet and is hermetically sealed with an airtight aluminium seal. This further ensures the viability of these bacterial strains.

On the naming Microbiol

The name Microbiol is derived from the term "microbiome". It refers to all the microorganisms that live in and on our bodies, such as the gut flora. These bacteria have been part of our digestive system since birth. These include, for example, lactobacilli. Bacillus rhamnosus GG is also referred to as LGG.

Ingredients

Lactobacillus rhamnosus, rice starch (Oryza sativa), vegetable capsule (pullulan, from fermented cassava starch), Lactobacillus acidophilus, Bifidobacterium lactis.

Recommended intake

Take 1 capsule per day with water at a meal. When taking an antibiotic, it is advisable to wait at least 2 hours between taking Microbiol Trio Basis and the antibiotic.

Storage instructions

After opening, preferably store in the fridge. During use, when the cap is constantly being unscrewed, moisture and air can reach the product. To maintain optimal stability during use, refrigerated storage may then be advisable. Unopened, the product can be stored at room temperature without problems. The shelf life of this product at delivery is a maximum of 15 months.
