NDR 760 mg Vitamin B3 and D-ribose, 60 tablets

Niacin and D-ribose = the spark and the fuel!

Some people might think, ‘What a bold claim.’ But on the other hand: D-ribose is a naturally occurring sugar molecule that is essential for the synthesis of adenosine triphosphate (ATP) . ATP is the primary source of energy for cells . It is a building block of ATP and helps to replenish energy stores in cells, particularly after intense physical activity. Vitamins are there to stimulate and regulate the body’s own processes. And vitamin B3 is the vitamin responsible for energy metabolism. So the comparison isn’t that far-fetched!

Scientists are currently conducting intensive research into various forms of vitamin B3, such as nicotinamide mononucleotide (NMN) and nicotinamide riboside (NR). Even the media have picked up on NMN. What is often overlooked is that nicotinamide plays just as important a role in the formation of nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide (NAD) as NMN and NR. NAD plays a crucial role as an intermediate in our energy metabolism.

The far more common form of vitamin B3 is nicotinamide, which is why it is much cheaper than NMN. Furthermore, unlike NMN, nicotinamide is officially approved as a dietary supplement due to its long-standing track record. The long-term use of NMN has not yet been sufficiently researched, which is why it is currently not permitted to be sold.

Vitals’ NDR 760 mg contains RiaGev-SR® from the US manufacturer Bioenergy Life Science. Each tablet provides a generous amount of the tried-and-tested nicotinamide, which is enriched with D-ribose in a patented ratio, in the form of vitamin B3. Vitamin B3 is known to aid in the release of energy from nutrients (fats, carbohydrates and protein). It can help reduce tiredness and boost energy levels. Furthermore, vitamin B3 is essential for a properly functioning nervous system and memory.

Our energy metabolism: a highly complex system of chemical reactions

Who doesn’t need a bit of extra energy now and then? To a large extent, we can generate mental energy ourselves by engaging in activities that bring us joy. To function optimally, our body needs daily nourishment as a source of energy. Our cells contain mitochondria, which act as the cell’s powerhouses. This is where nutrients such as sugar and fatty acids are converted through a reaction with oxygen into adenosine triphosphate (ATP): the universal fuel of the human body.
Our body’s energy metabolism is a highly complex and sophisticated system of chemical reactions of various kinds. Various substances (including coenzymes and enzymes) play a key role in this process. Some of these substances are produced by the body itself. Others, such as vitamin B3, are obtained exclusively through diet.

Vitamin B3 helps enzymes to produce energy.

It comprises a group of various, related compounds, including nicotinamide (also known as niacinamide), nicotinic acid (also known as niacin) and nicotinamide riboside (abbreviated to NR). Vitamin B3 is a precursor to one of the most important coenzymes in our body, nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide (NAD). A coenzyme helps an enzyme to carry out a chemical reaction correctly. In the case of NAD, these are primarily reactions necessary for the production of energy from fats, carbohydrates and protein.

The crucial importance of NAD Here we’ll delve a little deeper and examine the important function of NAD in more detail. NAD is unique in that it is found in all foods . NAD captures the electrons produced during the conversion of nutrients (along with hydrogen ions). This produces the electron-rich NADH, where the H stands for hydrogen . NADH then transports these electrons to the site where they are released. Ultimately, a further chain reaction results in ATP, the universal source of energy. The body needs ATP to carry out all the processes necessary for its proper functioning.

NAD is utilised and consumed during certain reactions in the body. It is therefore important that we consume sufficient vitamin B3 every day. Unfortunately, as we age, the body’s own NAD production becomes increasingly less efficient. Nicotinamide, a form of vitamin B3, is also converted in the body, in a similar way to NR, into NMN, from which NAD is produced.

RiaGev-SR®: a patented blend of nicotinamide and D-ribose. NDR 760 mg from Vitals contains RiaGev-SR® from the US manufacturer Bioenergy Life Science. ‘NDR’ is the abbreviation for nicotinamide and D-ribose. The slow-release tablet (SR = Slow Release) provides a combination of vitamin B3 and D-ribose in a patented ratio to one another. D-ribose, a monosaccharide, can be synthesised in the body from glucose, amongst other sources. Together with nicotinamide, D-ribose forms the compound NAD. Molecules such as DNA and ATP also contain D-ribose. It is therefore present in all the body’s cells. In a promising study involving human subjects, Bioenergy Life Science investigated this specific combination.
