Palmitoylethanolamide (PEA, pronounced ‘peeja’) is a substance that the body can produce itself when certain stimuli occur.  This substance is also found in food, albeit in small quantities – particularly in offal, fish, meat, soya, peanuts and eggs.

In the 1990s, Nobel Prize winner Rita Levi-Montalcini discovered the effects of PEA. Numerous studies on PEA have been carried out since then, and our understanding of its mechanism of action is constantly growing.  There are over 300 scientific publications on this substance.

In certain situations where the body’s requirements are increased, it may be advisable to take additional PEA via dietary supplements. PEA is produced naturally by the body, which is why it is excellently absorbed from the gut and transported to the tissues.  It is simply broken down into its components after being utilised by the cells.

PEA-opt® quality seal

Vitals’ PeaPure® product contains only PEA bearing the PEA-opt® quality seal, which is produced using a patented manufacturing process.  This ensures that the product has a unique ratio of PEA particles of different sizes (reduced, refined and ultra-refined particles).  Palmitoylethanolamide that has not been treated in this specific way may be more difficult for the body to absorb and is therefore less effective. PEA products bearing the PEA-opt® quality seal guarantee a highly pure and high-quality palmitoylethanolamide content as well as optimal absorption. The PEA used in PeaPure® is tested in every batch by an independent laboratory for quality and purity.

Recommended intake

For the first two months, take one capsule three times a day with a meal and plenty of water, or as recommended. The daily dose can also be taken in two doses (e.g. two capsules in the morning and one capsule in the evening).

Manufacturer’s notes

It is strongly recommended that you use PeaPlex consistently for at least two months. Most PeaPlex users notice a difference after just a few weeks. After two months, you may wish to consider whether you:

• continue taking one capsule twice a day
• reduce your intake to one capsule once a day
• stop taking it

If the effect diminishes after reducing the dose, it is recommended that you increase the dose back to one capsule two to three times a day. Do not exceed the recommended daily intake as stated.

This food supplement is not suitable for children under 1 year of age (statutory warning for products containing a maximum of 3 mg of vitamin B6 per daily dose).
