Approximately 500 amino acids exist in nature
20 of these amino acids act as building blocks for the protein found
in the human body; they are called “basic amino acids”. These basic
amino acids can be divided into the categories “essential”,
“semi-essential” and “non-essential”. Although taurine is considered
an amino acid, due to its biochemical structure it is not a true
amino acid. In addition, it is not incorporated into proteins. In
the body, taurine is found mainly in nervous tissue, the eyes and in
muscle tissue.Taurine is a semi-essential nutrient for older
children and adults, which is primarily synthesised in the liver and
the brain from the sulphur-containing amino acids cysteine and
methionine; vitamin B6 is among the factors responsible for this
conversion. Infants and young children are not yet able to
synthesise taurine independently; taurine is an indispensable
nutrient for them. Because endogenous synthesis is limited,
dietary intake is important to maintain a good taurine status,
particularly when requirements are increased. Because taurine occurs
mainly in meat, fish and poultry, vegetarians and vegans are more
likely to be at risk of inadequate dietary intake

Taurine, anti-caking agent (rice fibres), vegetable capsule capsule (Pullulan, made from fermented cassava starch).
Recommended intake
As a dietary supplement for adults, take 2–3 capsules per day with
water between meals (at least half an hour before, or two hours
after eating).

Not suitable for long-term use (> 1 year).
