There are approximately 500 amino acids in nature
20 of these amino acids act as building blocks for the
proteins found in the human body; they are known as ‘essential
amino acids’. These essential amino acids can
be classified into the categories ‘essential’, ‘semi-essential’ and
‘non-essential’. Although taurine is
considered an amino acid, due to its
biochemical structure it is not a true amino acid. Furthermore,
it is not incorporated into proteins. In the body,
taurine is found primarily in nerve tissue, the eyes and
muscle tissue. Taurine is a semi-essential nutrient for older
children and adults, produced mainly in the liver and
brain from the sulphur-containing amino acids cysteine and methionine; Vitamin B6, amongst other things,
is responsible for this conversion. Infants and
young children are not yet able to produce taurine on their own; taurine is an essential
nutrient for them. As the body’s own synthesis is limited,
dietary intake is important for maintaining good taurine status,
particularly when requirements are higher. As taurine is found primarily in
meat, fish and poultry, vegetarians and
vegans are more at risk of an inadequate dietary intake

Vitals, our new brand from 2025
We are constantly on the lookout for brands that represent our ideals: The highest quality, consistent omission of superfluous additives such as titanium dioxide or porcine gelatine, very good value for money and absolute reliability in delivery to us and therefore also to customers.
This is very difficult because such companies are extremely rare among the mass of manufacturers of food supplements that are now on the market. But we have managed to find them again, with Vitals from the Netherlands!
Manufacturer's address: Vitals Voedingssupplementen BV, Pieter Lieftinckweg 29, 1505 HX Zaandam, Netherlands. E-mail: customer service@vitals.eu.
