Ultimate Protein Blend is an enhanced protein blend with a unique composition to increase protein intake. The product contains fermented whey, complemented with carefully selected fibres and bacterial strains. In addition, it is a source of calcium. Protein supports muscle recovery and promotes the build-up of muscle mass after training. Protein is also beneficial in later life, as it helps preserve muscle mass and strengthen bones. The naturally occurring calcium supports digestion and strengthens bones.

Proteins: necessary for building and repairing muscles and for healthy bones

For athletes aiming to increase strength and achieve good recovery, the most important nutrient is protein. For this reason it forms the main component of Vitals’ Ultimate Protein Blend. Each scoop contains up to 20 g of milk whey protein, valued for its optimal amino acid profile. Whey protein contains, among other things, high amounts of branched-chain amino acids (BCAAs), consisting of isoleucine, leucine and valine. Their branched chemical structure is unique, and they are an essential part of the amino acids the body cannot produce itself. Therefore BCAAs must be obtained through the diet or supplements. For athletes these BCAAs are even more important.

Muscle tissue is largely composed of proteins. Accordingly, an adequate protein intake from the diet causes muscles to grow and increase in strength. Exercise and other physical stresses are desirable for muscles; they should then recover and grow beyond their former level. Proteins are essential for an optimal recovery process. Less well known is that bones also rely on protein. They are important for bone formation. Protein helps to maintain strong bones – an aspect that becomes increasingly important with age.

The strength of fermented whey protein

The basis of this Vitals product is a unique mix of fermented whey protein and galacto-oligosaccharides (GOS) from milk, marketed under the name Biotis® Fermentis.

In Biotis® Fermentis the whey is fermented by the world’s best-known and most thoroughly researched probiotic strain, Lactobacillus rhamnosus GG. Thanks to fermentation by these lactic acid bacteria, it becomes easier for digestive enzymes to break down whey proteins. This also improves absorbability. At the end of fermentation the lactic acid bacteria are inactivated into postbiotics (components of microorganisms and their metabolic products) which remain in the final product.

Exceptional combination of pre-, pro- and postbiotics

Ultimate Protein Blend is further distinguished by the addition of pre-, pro- and postbiotics. Biotis® Fermentis contains Lactobacillus rhamnosus GG as a postbiotic and galacto-oligosaccharides (GOS) as a prebiotic. These are soluble fibres that are present in small amounts in breast milk and dairy products. Our digestive enzymes do not break these down, but microorganisms in our gut (such as bifidobacteria and lactobacilli) use GOS as a nutrient. GOS is a well-researched fibre.

Ultimate Protein Blend is completed by the addition of a live bacterial strain (probiotic). This is Bacillus coagulans GBI-30, known under the trademark BC30™. Bacillus coagulans is a spore-forming lactic acid bacterium. It develops resistance to adverse external influences such as heat and dryness by encasing itself. In this way the biological activity of BC30™ is preserved for an exceptionally long period. This strain is also ideal as an addition to a powdered product. BC30™ has been studied in several trials with human subjects. This strain, which is one of the few of its kind, has also been investigated in combination with protein powders. It was shown, among other things, that BC30™ positively influenced the uptake of the protein powders studied.

Digestive support from calcium

Milk is naturally a high-quality source of the mineral calcium. This means that whey and other products made from milk also often contain calcium. This is also true for Ultimate Protein Blend. This product naturally contains calcium. Calcium is primarily needed for strong bones. It also supports good muscle function and energy metabolism. All of these properties make it particularly attractive to athletes.

Calcium also has a lesser-known effect: it can promote digestion. Calcium is crucial for the activation of digestive enzymes. It ensures these enzymes work correctly and digest nutrients efficiently so they can be properly absorbed. Perfect for athletes, who do not want stomach discomfort during their sporting activities.

Natural and mild in taste, without flavourings or artificial sweeteners

Many sports products contain unwanted additives, including artificial sweeteners such as sucralose. As a result they often have a very strong taste. Not everyone likes that. Ingredients

Whey protein concentrate (from milk), galacto-oligosaccharides, lactic acid bacteria cultures, vitamin C (ascorbic acid), emulsifier (sunflower lecithin), inulin, Bacillus coagulans.

Directions for use

Mix 1 level scoop (30 g) with, for example, approx. 250 ml drinking yoghurt or milk. Due to the natural fermentation process Ultimate Protein Blend has a fresh, slightly tangy taste. Preferably use a shaker to ensure everything mixes well. A 70 ml scoop is included. Note: Fill the scoop completely and then level off (the number 30 shown on the scoop refers to millilitres, not grams). Suitable for vegetarians (not for vegans).

Storage instructions

Store in a dry place, sealed and at room temperature. The shelf life of this product is shorter than you may be used to for our products. Limited shelf life after opening.
