Niacin (vitamin B3) – flush-free
As it is a component of two essential coenzymes in the body, NAD (nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide) and NADP (nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide phosphate), vitamin B3 promotes energy production. Over two hundred specific enzymes (dehydrogenases), which are important for electron transport and cellular respiration (dissimilation), are activated by these two substances. Cell respiration is the process by which ATP (adenosine triphosphate, a carrier of chemical energy) is produced in a mitochondrion (the cell’s ‘powerhouse’) through the breakdown of nutrients. It is possible that vitamin B3 helps to reduce fatigue. It is also beneficial for the skin, the mucous membranes, the nervous system and mental health.
Vitamin B3 exists in two forms: niacin (also known as nicotinic acid) and niacinamide (also known as nicotinamide). Niacin is known to trigger a ‘flush’, in which the skin becomes red and hot, often accompanied by burning, stinging and/or itching sensations. Niacinamide, a form of niacin with an attached amide group, does not cause a ‘niacin flush’.
Vitals’ pure form of vitamin B3 500 mg provides a high dose. The active ingredient is enclosed in a plant-based capsule made from cassava and is supplemented with an additive derived from rice. Ideally, take or recommend vitamin B3 in combination with a vitamin B complex or multivitamin (as B vitamins have a strong synergistic effect).

This is very difficult because such companies are extremely rare among the mass of manufacturers of food supplements that are now on the market. But we have managed to find them again, with Vitals from the Netherlands!
