Not acidic, so it’s fine even if you have stomach problems!
For people who do not tolerate ascorbic acid well, vitamin C powder in the buffered form of magnesium ascorbate is suitable. Compared to ascorbic acid, magnesium ascorbate has a lower acid content, meaning it causes virtually no gastrointestinal discomfort. If you have a higher requirement for vitamin C, a form without added acid, such as magnesium ascorbate, is best suited. The content of 130 mg of magnesium per measuring spoon is also beneficial, as it can be helpful if an additional magnesium intake is required. Vitamin C powder is also suitable for adults and children who have difficulty swallowing tablets. The amount of powder can be adjusted to individual needs using the measuring spoon provided.
Effects of vitamin C
Vitamin C is arguably the most frequently mentioned vitamin, known primarily for its positive effect on the immune system . And that is true. Particularly during intense physical activity or in cold environments, vitamin C has a supportive effect on the immune system. However, this vitamin is also involved in a wide range of processes.
Vitamin C is a water-soluble antioxidant and plays a significant role in scavenging free radicals. It forms part of a complex system comprising the body’s own antioxidants, dietary antioxidants and antioxidant enzymes, and in which there are interdependencies and interactions. In this role, it protects DNA, proteins and fats from oxidative damage, thereby helping to maintain healthy cells and tissues. Furthermore, vitamin C is required as a coenzyme for three different enzymes involved in the production of collagen (the most abundant structural component in the human body) . Normal collagen formation is important for bones, cartilage, gums, skin, tendons and blood vessels, amongst other things.
Vitamin C is an essential cofactor for dopamine beta-monooxygenase (DBM), the enzyme that converts dopamine into noradrenaline and adrenaline. Both act as neurotransmitters and hormones in the body, which is why vitamin C has a positive effect on the functioning of the nervous system and contributes to normal mental function. For the synthesis of carnitine, which is required for the transport of long-chain fatty acids into the mitochondria for energy production, vitamin C is essential for two enzymes.
In this way, vitamin C contributes to energy-maintaining functions.
It may also be helpful in combating fatigue. Furthermore, there are many people who do not consume sufficient iron through their diet – particularly women of childbearing age, pregnant women and (young) children. The absorption of iron from food is enhanced by vitamin C. This refers to non-haem iron, which is found in both plant-based and animal-based foods. Vitamin C has C has no effect on the absorption of haem iron, which is found exclusively in animal products. Around 90 per cent of the iron found in food is non-haem iron. Only 10 per cent consists of haem iron. Vitamin C, acting as an electron donor, can convert oxidised vitamin E back into its active, reduced form and thus preserve its effectiveness. Humans cannot produce vitamin C themselves and are entirely dependent on their diet for their supply of this vitamin.

Nutrition declaration
| Micronutrients | per daily portion of 2 measuring spoons (2.2 grams) |
| Vitamin C | 1800 mg (2250 %*) |

Ingredients
Magnesium ascorbate.
Recommended intake
Take ½–1 level measuring spoon (1.1–2.3 grams) per day with a meal. Mix with (approx. 150 ml) water or another liquid. One 2.5 ml measuring spoon (= approx. 2.2 grams) is included.
Note
People with kidney problems should not take more than 200 mg of vitamin C per day, partly due to the risk of hyperoxalaemia (excessively high levels of oxalic acid in the blood).
Note from EnergyVital
Ideally, you should not take more than 500 mg of vitamin C at a time, as the body will then excrete the excess. This is not harmful, but it does result in more expensive urine. We therefore recommend, contrary to the manufacturer’s instructions, that you divide the daily dose into 3–4 portions.
Storage instructions
Store in a cool, dry place away from light (not in the fridge). Limited shelf life once opened.
Legal information
Do not exceed the recommended daily intake. Food supplements are not a substitute for a balanced and varied diet and a healthy lifestyle. Keep out of reach of young children.
