Maca

Maca is a tuber that naturally occurs at high altitudes in the Andes of Peru. Peruvians have traditionally used maca for its positive effects on physical and mental health. Maca is described as an “adaptogen”. Adaptogens are herbs that help the body cope with various physical and psychological challenges, thereby contributing to the maintenance of balance. What many do not know is that there are several types of maca, each with a different phytochemical composition and different efficacy. The different types of maca are distinguished by the colour of the tuber, which can be yellow, red or black, among others. Black maca is considered a typical “male maca” due to the particular proportions of characteristic maca constituents (such as glucosinolates and lignans). Yellow maca (with different glucosinolates) is rather regarded as “female maca”. MacaHarmony® is a maca concentrate consisting of an effective combination of maca types and specifically developed to support physical and mental balance in women. Frauenformel Pro contains a high dose of the well-known ashwagandha extract KSM-66® from the manufacturer Ixoreal. The development of this specialised extract was based on fourteen years of research. A specially developed extraction process (without toxic or environmentally harmful solvents) is used for KSM-66®. This produces a broad-spectrum extract in which the natural properties of the original plant are retained. Ixoreal also consciously chooses to use only unsprayed ashwagandha plants. In other words: KSM-66® not only offers the highest quality, but is also the most thoroughly researched ashwagandha extract worldwide (Bakhtiar Choudhary, Shetty A. and Deepak G. Langade 2015).

Saffron

Saffron, one of the world’s most valuable spices, is obtained from the stigmas and styles of the saffron crocus (Crocus sativus). Saffron is primarily known for giving dishes a rich flavour and a beautiful colour. Saffron has also proven valuable in the form of dietary supplements. Studies show that consuming saffron extract helps to maintain a positive mood. The saffron extract contained in Frauenformel Pro, Affron®, is produced from unsprayed saffron grown under strict controls in Spain. Only in this way can a pure extract of the highest quality and with the maximum content of active ingredients be obtained. Affron® contains a high proportion of Lepticrosalides®, a term used by the manufacturer for the active compound spectrum of its saffron extract, which includes safranal, crocin and picrocrocin. Maca (Lepidium peruvianum Chacon, root), filler (microcrystalline cellulose [cellulose gel]), ashwagandha extract (Withania somnifera, root, contains milk), chaste tree extract (Vitex agnus-castus, fruit), anti-caking agents (silicon dioxide, magnesium salts of fatty acids, hydroxypropyl cellulose), coating agent (hydroxypropyl methylcellulose), saffron extract (Crocus sativus, stigma), humectant (glycerol).

Recommended intake

Take 1–2 tablets per day with water at a meal (preferably at breakfast). Use throughout the menstrual cycle. Suitable for vegetarians (not for vegans).

Note

In the case of an overactive thyroid or if you are taking thyroid medication, consult a doctor before using an ashwagandha supplement. Do not use during pregnancy or breastfeeding.
