Alpha-lipoic acid to support antioxidants
Alpha-lipoic acid is an exceptional substance. The vitamin-like, sulphur-containing fatty acid acts universally throughout the body. It is both fat- and water-soluble and can even cross the blood–brain barrier. Normally we can cover our need for alpha-lipoic acid through the diet (especially meat and offal). This can lead to an undersupply with a meat-free diet. Alpha-lipoic acid occurs as R(+)-alpha-lipoic acid and S-alpha-lipoic acid. But only R(+)-alpha-lipoic acid corresponds to the body’s own, natural form and is physiologically active. Normally their ratio to one another – due to production – is 50:50. In cheap dietary supplements the proportion of R(+)-alpha-lipoic acid is significantly lower because of unnecessary fillers such as magnesium stearate and silicon dioxide. This means that in a 600 mg capsule there may be only 100 to 150 mg of bioactive lipoic acid. WOSCHA Alpha-Lipoic Acid contains 250 mg bioactive R(+)-alpha-lipoic acid, is free from additives and is vegan.
