The sulphur-containing amino acid L-methionine is essential and must be obtained from the diet. Good sources are Brazil and walnuts, meat, salmon, eggs and soybeans.

Vitamin B6 is present as the highly bioactive compound (pyridoxal-5-phosphate), which is 10 times more effective than regular vitamin B6. No other additives are included, so WOSCHA L-Methionin Plus is very well tolerated and suitable for vegetarians and vegans.
Functions of L-methionine
L-methionine is the "start amino acid" in the assembly of proteins and the precursor of the other sulphur-containing amino acids L-cysteine and taurine. Unlike many other amino acids, L-methionine can readily cross the blood–brain barrier.
L-methionine is also a co-factor in the production of hormones and neurotransmitters (e.g. adrenaline, serotonin), choline and histidine. Its sulphur is needed for the formation of disulphide bridges in the structural protein keratin.

Note from the manufacturer
High doses of L-methionine can accelerate calcium excretion. This is risky for patients with osteoporosis. Gout sufferers should also take methionine only under medical supervision.
