What is vitamin D3 and why is the combination with vitamin K2 useful?

Vitamin D is a fat-soluble vitamin that fulfils numerous important functions in the body. It contributes to the normal absorption and utilisation of calcium and phosphorus and helps maintain normal bones and teeth. In addition, vitamin D contributes to normal muscle function and the normal function of the immune system.

Vitamin K is also a fat-soluble vitamin. It contributes to normal blood clotting and supports the maintenance of normal bones.

Vitamin D and vitamin K2 are often considered together because both vitamins are involved in calcium metabolism. While vitamin D helps with the absorption of calcium from food, vitamin K takes on roles in the utilisation of calcium in the body's structures.

Vitamin K2 refers to a group of compounds known as menaquinones. Menaquinone-7 (MK-7) is one of the best-studied forms of vitamin K2 and occurs naturally in fermented foods.

The combination of vitamin D3 and vitamin K2 complements two fat-soluble vitamins that functionally complement each other in calcium metabolism and each fulfil independent, scientifically recognised functions in the body.

Since both vitamins are fat-soluble, it is advisable to take them with a meal or together with a source of fat.

Weekly dose in a single capsule

One capsule provides 5,600 IU vitamin D3 and 200 µg vitamin K2. The dosage is designed as a practical weekly dose and makes daily intake unnecessary.

Vitamin K2 as high-quality MK-7 (all-trans)

The vitamin K2 contained is present as menaquinone-7 (MK-7) in the all-trans form. This form is characterised by its high purity and occurs naturally in fermented foods.

Vitamin D3 and vitamin K2 are fat-soluble. For optimal absorption, take with a meal or a source of fat.

Vegetarian formulation with plant-based capsule shell

The capsule shell consists of hydroxypropylmethylcellulose and is suitable for a vegetarian or vegan diet. Magnesium stearate as well as colourants and additives are omitted.

Particularly economical

One pack contains 60 capsules. At a dosage of one capsule per week, the contents are sufficient for 60 weeks, or approximately 420 days.
