What is the composition of guarana?

Guarana is a South American fruit that thrives particularly in Brazil. The seeds of this fruit are about the size of coffee beans but contain two to four times more caffeine. In fact, guarana is known for its high caffeine content, often referred to as guaranine, which is even higher than that of coffee beans. In addition to caffeine, guarana also contains small amounts of theophylline and theobromine, two compounds similar to caffeine but with slightly different effects on the body.
