S-adenosyl-L-methionine (SAMe), an essential amino acid
In nature there are around 500 amino acids. 20 of these amino acids act as building blocks for the proteins found in the human body; they are called "fundamental amino acids". These fundamental amino acids are classified into the categories "essential", "semi-essential" and "non-essential". Methionine is one of the essential amino acids, which means the body cannot produce it from other amino acids and must obtain it to meet its daily requirement. Methionine that is not incorporated into proteins can be converted by a reaction with ATP into S-adenosylmethionine (SAMe). This mainly takes place in the liver. One advantage of SAMe over methionine is that it is directly available to the body without conversion being necessary.

Ingredients
S-adenosyl-L-methionine disulfate tosylate, anti-caking agent (rice fibres), vegetable capsule (pullulan, from fermented cassava starch).
Recommended use
As a dietary supplement for adults, take 1–2 capsules per day between meals (at least half an hour before or two hours after eating). Limited shelf life after opening.
Caution
Do not take in combination with medicines that affect brain metabolism, for example antidepressants and sedatives.
Storage instructions
Store cool, dry and protected from light (do not refrigerate).
