S-Adenosyl-L-methionine (SAMe), an essential amino acid
There are around 500 amino acids found in nature. Twenty of these amino acids act as building blocks for the proteins found in the human body; they are known as ‘essential amino acids’ . These essential amino acids are classified into the categories ‘essential’, ‘semi-essential’ and ‘non-essential’ . Methionine is one of the essential amino acids, which means that the body cannot produce it itself from other amino acids and to meet its daily requirements. Methionine that is not incorporated into proteins by the body can be converted into S-adenosylmethionine (SAMe) through a reaction with ATP. This takes place primarily in the liver. One advantage of methionine in the form of SAMe is that it is directly available to the body without the need for conversion.

Ingredients
S-Adenosyl-L-methionine disulphate tosylate, anti-caking agent (rice fibre), vegetable capsule (pullulan, derived from fermented cassava starch).
Recommended intake
As a food supplement for adults, take 1–2 capsules per day between meals (at least half an hour before or two hours after eating). Limited shelf life after opening.
Caution
Do not take in combination with medicines that
affect brain metabolism, such as antidepressants and
sedatives.

Store in a cool, dry place, away from light (not in the fridge).
