Vitamin B2, also called riboflavin or lactoflavin, is an essential vitamin that must be obtained through the diet. It forms part of important coenzymes involved in many metabolic processes in our body, for example the generation of energy from food, tissue growth and the maintenance of an intact nervous system.
A vitamin B2 deficiency can develop particularly in pregnant and breastfeeding women, alcoholics, and in vegetarians and vegans. It may present, among other things, with poorly healing wounds, cracked skin, gum inflammation and chronic fatigue. Effects of Vitamin B2 (Riboflavin)
