Natural polyphenols and ellagic acid protect cells and promote men's well‑being

Longlife Granatum is a dietary supplement with antioxidants that contains pomegranate extract, microencapsulated vitamin K2 and polyphenols from green tea. It was specially developed for men aged 50 and over to support their well‑being. Each capsule provides 253 mg of active polyphenols from plants.
Pomegranate is rich in secondary plant compounds such as flavonoids, tannins and ellagic acid. These are known to protect cells from damage caused by oxidation.

Studies on pomegranate in men

A clinical study (Pantuck et al., 2006) examining the effect of pomegranate juice on men was published on PubMed.

A study at the University of Wisconsin also produced impressive results, see Malik, A., Afaq, F., Sarfaraz, S., Adhami, V. M., Syed, D. N., & Mukhtar, H. (2005).

Research at the Hollings Institute (MUSC – South Carolina) investigated ellagic acid, a substance found in pomegranate. Dr Daniel Nixon and his colleagues arrived at intriguing results (Narayanan BA, Geoffroy O, Willingham MC, Re GG, Nixon DW. 1999).

Green tea extract: effective catechins and their synergy with pomegranate

Green tea is rich in catechins such as EGCG, ECG and EGC, which are intensively studied for their antioxidant effects.
The only place in Europe where green tea is cultivated is in Switzerland, close to the headquarters of EnergyBalance®. Green tea together with pomegranate provides very strong protection against harmful substances in the body.

The vitamin K2 in this product is known as MK‑7 and is specially coated so that it is not destroyed in the stomach. It arrives intact in the intestine and can be well absorbed by the body there. K2 is important for normal blood clotting and for healthy bones.

Cell protection by vitamins?

Vitamin K actually plays relatively little role in the primary purpose of this product, namely taking it for cell protection (but it does no harm).
In another context, however, it can make a great deal of sense. There is strong evidence that vitamin D is very important for cell protection.
Furthermore, vitamin D also contributes to the maintenance of normal bones by enabling calcium to be incorporated into the bones.
On the other hand, a high calcium intake can be a problem for the arteries (although it is fundamentally needed in the blood). A too high calcium level in the blood can promote arteriosclerosis, i.e. calcification.
There is evidence that this undesirable effect is avoided if vitamin D and vitamin K are taken at the same time. This is also the reason why there are nowadays many vitamin D & K combination supplements.

It is therefore recommended to take vitamin D alongside Longlife Granatum + K2. This helps the cells, the blood vessels and the bones optimally at the same time.

Certified organic pomegranate juice (Punica granatum), pomegranate extract (Punica granatum) whole fruit, green tea extract, cellulose, vitamin K2 microencapsulated with 100% biologically active MK‑7 all‑trans isomers; cellulose (VegeCaps).

Recommended intake

2 capsules, 4 capsules for increased need, on an empty stomach before a meal or before going to bed.

Caution

Patients taking anticoagulants should consult their doctor before taking vitamin K preparations.
