Details of Salvestrol Platinum

Salvestrol® Platinum is a plant extract that contains high concentrations of specific phytonutrients (phytoalexins) that naturally occur in relevant amounts in unsprayed fruit and vegetables. Plant defence compounds that protect the plant against fungi, viruses, bacteria, UV light and insects are called phytoalexins. The plant only produces them in larger quantities when required.

With 2,000 points per capsule, Salvestrol® Platinum is a very highly dosed variant. For comparison: one capsule of Salvestrol® Shield contains 350 Salvestrol points, which corresponds to a maintenance dose.

Salvestroles – rare in today's diet

The researchers who discovered salvestroles made an interesting observation: the salvestrol content varies considerably between fresh fruits and vegetables, herbs and processed foods. Pesticides such as fungicides have greatly reduced the salvestrol content in conventional fruit and vegetables. This is obvious, since the plant no longer needs to protect itself by producing phytoalexins. Furthermore, over the past 50 to 60 years the cultivation of plant varieties that naturally have a high content of bitter salvestroles (and consequently require fewer pesticides) has declined considerably. This is due to the selection and breeding of plants. People also prefer new fruit and vegetable varieties that are uniform in size, colour and shape, while they ignore older, less attractive varieties that are rich in salvestroles. Finally, salvestroles are removed from (refined) foods such as fruit juices and olive oil to preserve flavour, colour and brilliance. The taste becomes sweeter without added sugar. Salvestroles are generally present only in small amounts or not at all in refined foods. The British research group that discovered salvestroles concluded that today's diet contains 80 to 90% less salvestroles than 50 to 100 years ago. Salvestroles are now found in relevant amounts only in unsprayed and unprocessed foods.

Why salvestroles are quantified in points

The Salvestrol points system is used to quantify the amount of salvestroles in foods and dietary supplements. The potencies of different salvestroles vary and are not directly linked to the amount in milligrams. The point system scale was established based on a calculation of the amount of salvestroles that occurred in a diet common more than 100 years ago. This quantity corresponds to 100 points.

Phytonutrient complex consisting of citrus bioflavonoids, kabocha squash (Cucurbita maxima) and grape (Vitis vinifera), hydroxypropyl methylcellulose (vegetable capsule), rice flour (Oryza sativa).

Recommended intake

Take 1 capsule twice a day with water with a meal.
