Ascorbyl palmitate – the fat-soluble vitamin C
Ascorbyl palmitate is a special form of vitamin C, formed from ascorbic acid and palmitic acid. Normally vitamin C is only water-soluble. Ascorbyl palmitate, however, has the characteristic of being both water- and fat-soluble. This has the advantage that vitamin C can reach areas of the cell that it normally cannot access with purely water solubility. As vitamin C helps protect the cell from oxidative stress, this property is particularly useful.
Ascorbyl palmitate can also cross the blood-brain barrier and exert its positive nutritional properties there.
Compared with conventional vitamin C, this special form can also be stored in the body.
WOSCHA ascorbyl palmitate is supplied in buffered form and is therefore very well tolerated.
