The most effective form of vitamin D
Orthomolecular experts have long been aware of the importance of
vitamin D supplementation. Furthermore,
government bodies in Europe have been advising certain target groups
to take vitamin D supplements for some time now. There is therefore
broad consensus that
vitamin D supplementation is necessary, particularly in countries with
limited sunshine. It is indeed a
challenge to obtain sufficient amounts of this vital vitamin through
one’s diet. However, the ideal dosage of
vitamin D must be considered on an individual basis. It
depends, amongst other things, on age, body type, lifestyle and the time of year,
as well as on blood vitamin D levels, provided these
have been measured.
Vitals drops with vitamin D3 (1000 IU) contain
at least 25 µg of vitamin D3 per drop. The handy pipette
allows for simple and precise dosing. This
is a supplement for adults and children aged 11 and over
who prefer to take drops
rather than tablets or capsules. It is also easy to adjust the dosage
of vitamin D3 as required. Whilst many
vitamin D products in drop form nowadays use MCT oil,
Vitals has deliberately chosen a special sunflower oil that
is naturally low in omega-6 and contains over 75 % omega-9.
This oil has a similar fatty acid composition to
olive oil, but has a more neutral flavour.
An optimal intake of vitamin D is of great importance
Over the past few decades, our understanding of the role and
importance of vitamin D for the human body has grown enormously.
Researchers have discovered receptors for vitamin D in more than 30 different tissues and
organs, including immune cells, muscles and bones. This means that
the effects of vitamin D are far-reaching and that it promotes health
in many ways. Above all, it is well known that
vitamin D is good for teeth and bones. Vitamin D is
essential for the
absorption of calcium and phosphorus from food, as well as for
maintaining normal blood levels of these two nutrients. These minerals are required
for the mineralisation of teeth and
bones.
Vitamin D is also beneficial for the muscles, as
muscle tissue also contains a vitamin D receptor.
Its activation increases protein production in the muscles,
which is important for their function. Furthermore, vitamin
D plays a role in cell division and the formation of new cells
and tissues. Vitamin D also has an immunomodulatory
effect, meaning it regulates processes within the immune system.
T-helper cells, a type of white blood cell that plays a
crucial role in certain immunological processes,
harbour vitamin D receptors. Thus,
vitamin D acts in a variety of ways in relation to
our complex immune system. In summary; For
our health, an optimal vitamin D status is of the utmost
importance. It is no coincidence that in most
countries, it is recommended to take vitamin D
supplements.
Sunflower oil rich in oleic acid: low in omega-6 and, like olive oil, naturally rich in oleic acid (omega-9)
When selecting a suitable oil base, we took various
factors into account, such as taste, stability, composition and
shelf life. We opted for a
sunflower oil whose fatty acid profile is naturally
very similar to that of olive oil. Like olive oil,
this so-called oleic acid-rich sunflower oil contains at least 75 % of the
monounsaturated fatty acid oleic acid (omega-9). The
linoleic acid (omega-6) content is low, which is
comparable to that of olive oil. The flavour,
however, is rather neutral. An additional advantage of
sunflower oil with a high oleic acid content is its stability.
Due to these properties, oleic acid-rich sunflower oil is often used in infant formula. It is therefore ideal for liquid food supplements. The oleic acid-rich sunflower oil contained in Vitals’ Vitamin D3 1000 IU drops sunflower oil comes from European sunflower plants that are grown naturally (i.e. without genetic modification) and have a high omega-9 content in their seeds .

What is the weight or volume of a drop?
For oils and aqueous solutions in dropper bottles or those with pipettes, drops are a popular and practical way of measuring quantities. Unfortunately, however, they are in fact very imprecise.
For anyone who wants or needs to know the exact figure for dosing and planning their medication or dietary supplements:
One drop of water is approximately 0.05 ml or 0.05 g, or 50 mg.
Oil has a different density and drips differently to water. Therefore:
One drop of oil is approximately 0.04 ml or 0.35 g, or 35 mg.
Vitals, our new brand from 2025
We are constantly on the lookout for brands that represent our ideals: The highest quality, consistent omission of superfluous additives such as titanium dioxide or porcine gelatine, very good value for money and absolute reliability in delivery to us and therefore also to customers.
This is very difficult because such companies are extremely rare among the mass of manufacturers of food supplements that are now on the market. But we have managed to find them again, with Vitals from the Netherlands!

35 mg.
