WOSCHA L-OptiZink: a special zinc blend with added copper.
For healthy skin and strong hair, to prevent hair loss and premature greying. Everyone wants beautiful, smooth skin and full, shiny hair, as these define our appearance. An adequate supply of the trace elements zinc and copper is crucial for this, as they play a key role in promoting the healthy development of skin and hair. WOSCHA L-OptiZink with copper:
- Helps maintain normal skin.
- Protects skin and hair from damage caused by sunlight.
- Promotes strong hair growth.
- Counteracts hair loss.
- May slow down the greying of hair.
Zinc and copper are also important for our immune system and play a role in energy metabolism. Zinc promotes skin renewal and is involved in cell division and DNA synthesis. Copper is important for blood formation and the normal functioning of our nervous system.
L-OptiZink: highly bioavailable – very effective.
This special, patented zinc formula is a 1:1 compound of zinc
and the amino acid methionine. Our body can absorb methionine
particularly well, which also benefits the associated zinc
intake. The zinc-methionine complex combats
superoxide radicals more than twice as effectively as zinc gluconate and almost
twenty times more effectively than zinc oxide. In the case of hydroxyl radicals, the
effect is even more pronounced. Compared to OptiZinc, L-OptiZink is
around 30% more effective against aggressive oxygen compounds and
superoxide anions. It reduces DNA damage caused by free radicals
by around 40% more effectively.
Zinc methionine promotes the formation of certain immune cells
(monoblasts, promonocytes, monocytes and macrophages), which
are crucial for our immune system and cellular resistance.
WOSCHA L-OptiZink has special properties:
- It also contains copper citrate, which the body can absorb easily.
- Zinc and copper are present in a perfect ratio of 10 to 1 .
- It contains no additional ingredients.
- The product is suitable for vegans.
Zinc and copper: essential for healthy skin and hair
Without zinc and copper, we would quickly start to look older. This is
because a deficiency in zinc and copper can lead to pale, grey skin,
dull, thin and brittle hair, hair loss and blemished
skin. These two nutrients protect us from harmful
influences and help generate energy in the body. This promotes
beautiful skin.
Copper strengthens the hair and gives the skin and hair their colour. This
colour also protects us from UV rays. As copper is involved in the formation of
connective tissue, it contributes to a healthy complexion
. Important: Zinc and copper can interfere with each other’s
absorption into the cells. Too much zinc can
reduce copper absorption, and vice versa. It is therefore important to
take them together.
If the body is severely deficient in zinc, the most important thing is to supply it with more zinc. For this, we recommend a pure zinc supplement without copper, for exampleWOSCHA Zinc Citrate or WOSCHA Zinc e with Vitamin C.

Ingredients
L-zinc methionine, cellulose (filler), hydroxypropyl methylcellulose (vegetarian capsule), copper(II) citrate.
Recommended intake
1 EMBO-CAPS® daily, with a meal.
Manufacturer’s notes
Both trace elements compete with each other during transport and uptake into the cells. Too much zinc can limit copper uptake – and vice versa. It is therefore important to take both together.
Storage instructions
Store in a cool, dry place away from light (not in the fridge).
Legal information
Do not exceed the recommended daily intake. Food supplements are not a substitute for a balanced and varied diet and a healthy lifestyle. Keep out of the reach of young children.

We have two products containing zinc chelates in our range:Woscha L-OptiZinkandVitals Zinc Bisglycinate. What is the difference?
Zinc chelates: the better form of zinc
You cannot simply absorb metals such as iron or zinc in their pure form.
It would be impossible for the gut to extract the
necessary milligrams of minerals from tiny particles of zinc or iron; that seems logical,
even without a degree in biology.
So you have to consume them in the form of chemical compounds that
the gut can absorb. Once in the blood or within the cells, the
body can then do whatever it wants with the metals, after it
has extracted them from these compounds.
There are chemical compounds that are better suited for this purpose and
others that are moderately suitable or less so. You can
often tell this immediately after taking the capsule; some
quickly lead to nausea.
This is particularly familiar to people who have to take low-quality, cheap supplements
from the chemist because their doctor is not familiar with these
differences. When it comes to zinc or iron, such
unlucky individuals often experience this problem.
Chelates are among the best compounds. With these,
one generally achieves, firstly, very good absorption by the body and,
secondly, avoids side effects such as nausea or
gastrointestinal discomfort.
Chelates are compounds of metals or minerals with
amino acids.
Zinc bisglycinate and L-zinc methionine
As far as zinc is concerned, we have products containing zinc bisglycinate or L-zinc methionine. These are two different organic zinc compounds in which zinc is bound to different amino acids:
- Zinc bisglycinate: In this compound, a zinc atom is bound to two glycine molecules. This form is very well absorbed by the body and is particularly gentle on the stomach.
- L-zinc methionine: In this compound, zinc is bound to the
amino acid methionine, which contains sulphur. This
variant is often used for its ability to neutralise free radicals
and its high bioavailability in specific
treatments (such as for the skin).
Key differences at a glance
Zinc bisglycinate:
- Binding partners: Two glycine molecules (the simplest amino acid)
- Chemical structure: Zinc complex (double)
- Special feature: Very good tolerability; avoids competition
with other minerals in the gut
L-zinc methionine
- Binding partner: L-methionine (sulphur-containing amino acid)
- Chemical structure: Zinc complex (often single)
- Special feature: Often sold as OptiZinc and is said to
remain in the body for a particularly long time.
Both are high-quality organic forms of zinc and are absorbed much more effectively by the body than inorganic forms such as zinc oxide or zinc sulphate.
High-quality formulations from the Netherlands
Podo medi's products are significantly influenced by the naturopathic experience of its co-founder Wolfgang P. Schallmey. As a naturopath and expert in orthemolecular therapy, he created his own brand WOSCHA dietary supplements, which are based on years of experience and a holistic philosophy. In addition to high quality, effectiveness and good tolerability, WOSCHA products are characterised by a lack of additives, which are added in other preparations for cheaper production. WOSCHA products are made from fresh and genetically unmodified raw materials and are available in their purest form. In addition, podo medi pays attention to sustainable packaging and shipping. For example, the product cans are made of harmless PET and recyclable material. Woscha and natura felix are brands of Podomedi.
